I help scientists and doctors communicate their ideas clearly so that they can be heard, understood, and believed. I speak internationally at professional conferences and seminars about how to use social media, blogging and scientific storytelling to increase the impact of scientific research.
As a practicing pediatrician I learn from patients every day. My patients love to research their problems and understand which treatment options would be best for them. But they just can't find accurate information because we, the medical community, are not explaining medicine well. And we are shy about putting information on the internet where our patients can find it.
I am on a mission to change all this.
My journey into communicating science began with a blog about travel health. Along the way I discovered how to use social media, how to connect with the press and how to explain complex ideas so that everyone can understand them.
I am asked to share what I learned at professional conferences. To teach the ins and outs of using social media to share scientific knowledge in a noisy world.
Now I reveal what I have learned on my blog Communicating Science as well as in seminars and workshops. I want you to be able to share your knowledge, to connect with others who share your interests, and to generate better ideas.
In short, I want to help you increase your impact in the world.
